Genuine Group helps provide water aid in Sierra Leone
Genuine Solutions Group, the Surrey based technology recycling and distribution provider has been helping make a difference to thousands of people in parts of Sierra Leone by providing a trusted, reliable water supply.
The award-winning company, known for their charity support and environmental good practice, has been working with Humanity First, an international aid agency, to install a new water pump in Port Loko, in the Northern province of Serra Leone. The project, which has been a collaborative effort between Genuine, communities and organisations on the ground and the aid agency, has been twelve months in the making but is now fully operational.
Chris McBride, CEO and Co-Founder of Genuine is passionate about making a difference to people’s lives through projects such as this, “The idea for this project came directly from one of our people and we immediately embraced it. Our ultimate business goal is about protecting our planet through technology recycling and yet here we could use a little intuition, lots of engagement and some technology to release one of the planet’s natural resources – water. We are so proud to have played a small part in this amazing project.”
Naseer Dean, Vice Chair of Humanity First International, is very clear on the value this project brings, “This pump will provide safe and clean drinking water to an estimated 1000 beneficiaries who erstwhile would have been deprived of this basic human requirement, which many of us take for granted. Through Genuine’s fundraising efforts they have directly eased much hardship for many people. We thoroughly appreciate their support and look forward to working with them in the future.”
The Genuine Group is due to announce its new charity partners for the next two-year programme of fundraising and support, but the company has confirmed that their new line-up includes a focus on environmental aid combined with a blend of social and community support and medical research.
