Genuine Group launches new charity programme
Genuine Solutions Group, the technology recovery and redistribution specialists have just celebrated the end of another amazing charity fundraising year with its partners The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Shooting Star Chase, The Children’s Trust and Cycling Projects by presenting its final donations totalling £17,500.00 bringing its total annual fundraising to just short of £40,000.00.
The growing SME, which was praised recently by the Department of International Trade for its expanding international business, embraces charity and community support encouraging its employees to rise to all sorts of challenges. Throughout the year, employees have been taking part in cake sales, running marathons or jumping out of aeroplanes all to help raise vital funds. Many customers have also been contributing through what’s known as a Share of Invoice scheme which the company matches.
Co-Founder and Chief Executive, Christian McBride is extremely proud of his team’s efforts, “We know that only 20% of SMEs give regularly to charity and 30% don’t give at all because they don’t see the benefits. Genuine has always placed giving at the heart of our business as it has massive benefits both in terms of engaging our own people and growing our business through attracting new clients who support our principles.”
McBride welcomed the new Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Thay Thayalan, to the company’s Surbiton headquarters to launch its new two-year charity programme. Representatives from the five new charities; British Heart Foundation, Dementia UK, Thames 21, Momentum Children’s Charity and Wildlife Aid briefed the Mayor and more than 100 employees of the Genuine Group on their joint plans for fundraising.
The new Mayor commented, “It is good to see businesses getting involved with local community and supporting worthy causes, it was an honour to be invited to this launch and I look forward to seeing the future fundraising initiatives”.
Karl Coppack, Fundraising Manager at the British Heart Foundation, who attended the launch event, says, “CPR is the difference between life and death for thousands of people every year in the UK who suffer a Cardiac Arrest. We are delighted to be working with the team at Genuine Solutions through our two-year partnership in the fight for every heartbeat”.
Frances Thurgood, Fundraising Manager for Thames21, which connects people with rivers by putting healthy rivers back at the heart of everyday life, was pleased to attend the event and kick off their partnership commenting, “Thames21 is delighted to be one of the new partners for the Charity Programme. We are looking forward to working with all the employees to help make a positive difference to London’s rivers.”
As the company prepares to launch its next phase of charity fundraising initiatives which include the usual fitness challenges and some more unusual efforts such as a company-wide disco dancing marathon or steps challenges, its five new charity partners can look forward a steady stream of promotion and support.
